Math Unit 3: Measurement

Over the past week students have been exploring measurement and understanding the different units of measuring. They have learned how to estimate a length and then find its accurate measurement. Rulers are being used to measure to the nearest whole number. We will take it to the next step by taking measurements and building a line plot to display our data. This connection to measurement will also take students into exploring more types of graph and data.

See if you can also have them explore around the house as they practice measuring the different items at home in cm and in.

Valentines Exchange

Valentines are due this Thursday, Jan. 28th (One day earlier due to no school on the 29th)

Jan. 28 - bags decorated and valentines passed out Please note this is an optional activity and students do not have to participate. Although, if they do they need to make a valentine for every student of the classroom.  Jan. 28 to Feb. 12 - all valentines will quarantine Feb. 12 - Valentine's Day observed and students receive valentines.

Jan. 28 is a hard deadline that we will not be extending. We will not be passing out valentines after Jan. 28.

Headphones

 Please check with your child on the status of their headphones at school. These are necessary. We use headphones daily for academic learning on our computers. 

I do not stock extra headphones in my classroom. Please let me know if you need assistance with this. Thank you!

For ALL 2nd Grade Students

 Starting Monday, January 11th

All 2nd grade students will be using the main entrance at the front of the building to enter the building in the morning. 

We will have adults in the school to help guide students to their classrooms. 2nd grade students will still exit the building at the end of the school day from their classroom fire doors. 

Please also make sure your child has a mask on as they enter our school building.
