ELA - CKLA


Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) is a language arts program that combines a multi-sensory approach to phonics with rich text carefully sequences to build content knowledge - so that students learn to read AND read to learn at the same time.
Everyday, students complete one full lesson that builds foundational reading skills, as well as one full lesson that build background knowledge. 

Skills Strand
Provides comprehensive instruction in foundational reading skills, such as phonological awareness, phonics, and word recognition; language skills, including conventions of English, spelling, and grammar; reading comprehension; and writing instruction.

C\entered around complex narrative and informational read-aloud texts. The Knowledge Strand focuses on background knowledge and vocabulary acquisition, analysis of complex text, and speaking and listening.
