Fall Field Trip

AWESOME Field Trip!! Thank you to ALL family chaperones that were able to make the trip! I had many happy kids that were able to make it through two successful field trips without rain. 

Move A Thon

Flyers came home!!

Every class that gets their students all registered & hits their classroom goal earns a special movement assembly!

Personal goals are set at $50 again this year but if your students just raise $15, they get entered into the first drawing pool which has over 45 prizes!

Top raising classrooms get either a Dance/movement Party OR a Soccer Training Camp Party.

Our School Goal is $15,000 and we are currently at $2,535

Math Updates

We are expanding on our math by pushing our thinking with these second grade concepts. Arrays are a focus, so we are relating this to multiplication, while also including repeated addition. Rows and columns are vocab words added to this discussion, and are tough to decipher between. Students are very eager to do more with the extrar challenge!

Tell me about 3x4. What does it mean? How would you solve that problem? (Background knowledge: Multiplication sentences are introduced as the number of groups multiplied by the size of each group; so in that example, 3x4 is 3 groups of 4, 3x4=12, and 4x3 would be 4 groups of 3, 4x3=12. We also talk about the commutative property: 3x4=4x3, etc.)
Tell me about the visual models for multiplication you've learned (equal groups drawing, array, bar model, number line). Which model helps you the most?

Westwoods Fire Safety

Our local firemen came out to remind us all of what to do in case of a fire in our own homes. All kids came home with homework assignments.
