End of Year!

The last few days of school were busy and filled with more work, dissecting grasshoppers, listening to stories, creating projects, exchanging stories, having many laughs and enjoying one another as we wrap the year! We had a FANTASTIC second grade year!

Good Bye Mallory!!

Not only are we saying goodbye to everyone for the summer, but we are also saying goodbye to Mallory as she moves on from Westwoods! We had a small surprise celebration for her! We had to sneak around the last couple days of school getting a couple goodies ready for her, but it was worth it because she WAS surprised!
We are going to miss Mallory greatly, but wish her and her family well with their new adventure!

Dissecting Grasshoppers

Tuesday afternoon we finally dissected grasshoppers! The students have patiently awaited this science activity, and we did it...on the last full day of school!
They did an awesome being fragile with each part, then cutting their insect open from abdomen to head. Inside they were guided to examine all the parts of a grasshopper and also use their tools to dissect organs to get a deeper look. In the end, they were free to further their exploration and examine all parts we did not go over. Very cool!

Teach the Teacher DAY 8 & 9

Our last couple days of Teach the Teacher! What a fun and exciting experience! The students who participated did an awesome job! We all learned something new and interesting over the last few weeks! Huge applause and pat on the back to each and every one of you!

Mallory taught us how to build a 9's chart. In addition, she gave us quick and helpful hints to knowing the multiple of 9's for math!
Nice work Mallory!

Sammy took us through a multi step drawing of a character from Dairy of a Wimpy Kid...Greg! She did a great job going slow making sure everyone was completing each step. In the end everyone was excited to have a new picture of a character they have come to recognize!
Good job Sammy!

Griffin brought one of his passions to school! HOCKEY! He taught us how to do a slap shot and a wrist shot! Nice job Griffin walking us through the steps and modeling all actions together!

Will took us to the water! He showed everyone how to kayak, turn, steer, and paddle! Way to go Will! Not only did he teach us how to maneuver a kayak, but you also got us really excited to get out on the water!

Teach the Teach DAY 7

Another fun filled day of teach the teacher!!

Hudson taught us how make slime! Extremely engaging watching Hudson work his magic on the goo!
Nice work Hudson!

Cam taught not only how to be safe on a quad, but also how you get one started and what to do.
Nice work Cam!

Jason and Hudson worked together to teach the ins and outs of Flag Football. We learned how to set up the game, kick the ball, then try to get to the other side without getting your flag taken.
Way to go boys!!

Marissa owns two goats at home, and wanted us to know about her pets. We learned about a goats personality, how they eat, what they do and how to take care of goats! She even has a fun printout for students to take home and continue learning about goats!
Fantastic Marissa!

Griffin and Sam brought their expertise to the field. We learned how to do certain soccer moves and how to avoid the opponent from taking your ball.
Super boys!

Sarah taught us about an animation project she does at home. She not only sets the scene but she creates a quick movie clip by moving figurines while also taking pictures.
Very intriguing Sarah!
