If you are completing your order online, you are welcome to make your order when you want, whenever you want, as many times as you want.
Our Class Activation Code HFPT3
Please also remember to write a check with any orders made out to Scholastic Book Club for the exact amount. (One check for the total amount).
Please NO CASH
Also, if you are ordering any books as gifts please let me know. I can set those books aside and get them to you at a separate time.
Thank you!!

OPTIONAL Homework

OPTIONAL Homework for Thanksgiving break!
Both are pages below we did not get to in the classroom on Tuesday. I decided to send home as an activity to do over the break. I did not tell the kids this was OPTIONAL, so please pass on the message. Number one over the holiday break is to rest, relax, enjoy family and have fun! If kids could squeeze in a little time for a fun math and language arts activity that would be a bonus!
Each completed piece can get a clip up on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd for an added incentive.
LA/Writing - How to Cook a Turkey
This writing activity can be as goofy as the students would like! They can dress the turkey with any condiment, cook it in any appliance, and then present it with a silly finale. Details and elaboration are key! There is a planning page and a final form writing page. Have fun!
Math - 2 Digit Addition
Two digit addition with and without regrouping is something we have been working on in the classroom. Have the students show off their skills with this fun and festive math activity. Please encourage students to read and follow the directions. Thanks!

Facts & Opinions

This past week one of our focuses were facts and opinions. Students had fun learning the difference between each and then applying to different areas of learning. In addition to having fun with all facts and opinions under the sun, we also applied it to our Journeys anchor text this week, Jellies.
They had to dig into their information text and find facts and opinions from the text...while creating a jellyfish at the same time. Turned out awesome!
These came home on Friday for you to now enjoy!

Journeys Lesson 10

Within Lesson 10, and throughout our week, we will be focusing on a variety of new concepts, but also practicing and building on topics already learned.
We also have two new texts that are of use when it comes to new concepts being reinforced.

Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish
Genre: Informational Text
Most children are fascinated by animals - as pets, in the wild, creepy, or exotic. This informational text helps children understand what particular physical features jellyfish have that help them survive.
This text will identify reasons to support a fact or an opinion while also identifying the author's purpose for writing the text.

Splash Photography
Genre: Informational Text
Children will regularly encounter informational text in textbooks, on the internet, and through other media. This text gives factual information about a familiar topic - photography - and will expand on children's knowledge of the topic with details about underwater photography.
Students will use a diagram to enhance understanding and discuss how labels help to clarify information in a text.
