Scholastic FUN! Meet the AUTHORS!

Explore through all THREE Scholastics! Meet the authors who wrote and illustrated their own books!
We already explored Dr. Seuss in class, because of that I threw in a Scholastic that highlighted one of his books, The Lorax.
Dive into the magazines! Watch the videos, play the games, and do the activities!
Along with the Scholastic Magazine, try the comprehension pages I have included. There are MANY to choose from. If you click on the picture you can print a selection or all. You can also look at the photo and respond on paper with pencil and colors.
I also added a couple read alouds and Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems!
I have the Scholastic Magazine link below each picture and I have also posted it in Google Classroom where students are familiar with.
ENJOY!!

Scavenger Hunts

Go on a scavenger hunt this week! One for inside and one for outside!
When you are done write a paragraph about each hunt!
You can free hand write your paragraph(s). OR I have an attached Google Doc for you to write your piece and then I can see it.
(I am trying this...never done it before)

Example:
I went on a scavenger hunt inside and found so many things! One item was Will's truck because it had wheels. Another thing I found was a round bowl that had delicious popcorn in it. Next I laid on  my super cozy pillow and read through a book with numbers. I found so many items on my scavenger hunt. I can't wait to do it again!

Elaboration & Character Traits

Elaboration is one of this weeks writing focuses
Image result for elaborate in writingBelow are cards for students to read through. Then elaborate on the character in bold by giving a detailed sentence on their character traits. I have a list of character trait examples included below. Have someone check this at home or send them my way! Practice sentence structure (COPS), spelling and penmanship! Remember to reread through your sentence. Does it makes sense and are there any edits to make?

After reading the story Gloria Who Might Be My Best Friend pick one of the characters OR both! Then analyze the character using the graphic organizers below (you can print or draw these out). See if you can push yourself and find text evidence from the story to prove why you chose the character traits you did.

New Books!

New books in your Google Classroom Book Club folder.
That is either the green group, purple group or blue group folder.
You each have a book to read through or listen to.
These text connect to this weeks lesson and anchor text as well.
Please try to read it first then listen to the story if needed to better comprehend the story.

Each of you also have 3 questions to answer after you read the story.
Off to the right you will see a place to type these answers in a complete sentence. Please number each answer for me so I know which question you are answering.
Then click TURN IN.
