Downtown Discovery Field Trip

Tuesday, June 6th * All students will need to bring is a snack or two & dress appropriately for the weather! Trip Includes Visit The City Opera House Scavenger hunt downtown - Making stops at the Visitor Center, Post Office, Horizon Books, and many more businesses. 
Purchasing a “good” and/or “service” Our wonderful PTO has generously donated $10 per student!! With that, ALL students will...
* Purchase a boxed lunch from Grand Traverse Pie Company
(GT Pie Co. has generously given us a low cost of $2 per boxed lunch)
* Purchase a stamp to mail their friendly letter
* Donating $1 to the City Opera House
* Which leaves the remainder to spend at our local shops purchasing a good/service!

Cardboard Challenge

Cardboard Challenge was kicked off yesterday for our classroom. On Friday, I sent and email home and your child should've brought a paper copy home.
Supplies can come in on Tuesday, May 30th. We will work on our games daily.

We Did It!!

 We are PUBLISHED authors!!
The books are in! We had a small celebration, we even did a parade throughout the entire building to share our excitement with other classrooms!
So very proud of these authors and what they created! 

Author Visit!!

Heather Shumaker is a local author that visited our classroom this Wednesday. Her visit was filled with so much inspiration, expressiveness and creativity! Not only did she engage the students with the thought process of an author, but she also gave them a chance to make connections, give their own ideas, and reflect on an author's work.

Heather talked about her award winning book, The Griffins of Castle Cary. Students were able to order The Griffins of Castle Cary and have her personalize a message inside. She will be back on Tuesday (May 30), if anyone would like to still order.

Heather also read a chapter from a book she is currently working on. We were the first kid ears to hear the beginning chapter of the story!! Wowza, that was awesome!

Needless to say, we enjoyed every minute of Heather's visit and I look forward to having her back in the fall to visit more classrooms. She passes on so much wisdom for writers, encouraging them to write their stories, and keep writing! THANK YOU HEATHER!

Learning Buddies Project: Bee Hotels

Bees are vital to our ecosystem and play a crucial role in pollinating many of the plants and crops that we rely on for food. With our learning buddies we created a bee house craft. This creates a safe and comfortable home for these important pollinators in our own backyard.
This activity was a fun and creative way to teach kids about the importance of bees, but it also promotes sustainability and eco-friendliness by repurposing recyclable material that would otherwise be thrown away.
By providing this safe space for bees, students are helping to maintain a healthy and diverse garden ecosystem!!
