Classroom Wish List
I know there were a lot of people at open house asking about what we need in the classroom. The generosity of our community & PTO has supplied your students with their classroom supplies.
Please take a look at our classroom wishlist from Amazon if you are considering any further donations.
Thank you in advance!

Today we dove into our new CKLA curriculum!

Skills this unit focuses on reviewing various spellings, with an emphasis on consonant sounds, high-frequency Tricky Words (words with spellings that do not play by the code rules), and one- and two-syllable words.
Some examples and overall learning outcomes are: review letter-sound correspondences, read and write words with short vowel sounds, read and spell Tricky Words, read and write one- and two-syllable words, read and spell words with suffixes ‒ing and ‒ed, read, write, and pronounce words with past tense suffix ‒ed (pronounced three different ways), spell grade-level words correctly, and write sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation
Listening/Knowledge introduces four diverse fairy tales: “The Fisherman and His Wife,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Magic Pitcher.” While reading these stories, students consider characteristic elements of fairy tales and the problems characters face, as well as the lessons each story conveys.
Students then turn to the American frontier and delve into tall tales about Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Casey Jones. In doing so, they learn about the characteristics of tall tales, such as the use of exaggeration and larger-than-life characters.

Coming Home!

Students brought home a home to school communicator today in their backpack.
These go back and forth from home to school and school to home each and every day. Please help your child to build a routine to ensure their communicator gets emptied each night and returned to school each morning.
Inside each communicator you will find information from school that requires your attention.
Please read the directions stapled to the front of the below picture. Both pages are for you to look over and read with your child. Please send back after both are signed. Thank you!
