CKLA Listening: The Civil War

This week we started a new CKLA Domain. Students have been introduced to an important time period in the history of the United States:![]()
We are learning about the controversy over slavery between the North and the
South, which eventually led to the American Civil War. An icon students were introduced to this week was Harriet Tubman and her as a conductor of the Underground Railroad.
Future conversations are coming about the American Civil War and how the end of the war also meant
the end of slavery. We will also study about men and women who were significant
during this time:
Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Clara Barton, Robert E.
Lee, Joseph De Castro, and Ulysses S. Grant
