Science Experiments!

In case you missed our Google Meet yesterday for Friday's science experiment. Here are the directions of how to do each. All were successful and less challenging.
Have fun and ENJOY!
Try the popcorn experiment and explore super fun chemical reactions in a highly visible way. Kids will love this STEM activity in a jar! #scienceexperiment #scienceforkids #stemed #stemactivities #thanksgivingactivities
 1. Fill a jar half way with white vinegar
2. Cover the bottom with a layer of popcorn kernels
3. Add a spoonful of baking soda to the jar and watch it dance!
First spoonful is a little larger and might have the jar overflow. So a plate, rag or over the sink would be a good idea.
Then as the dancing calms down, add a little more baking soda. They dance all over again!
We leave ours on the counter and the kids add a little more here and there and they dance all over again! So FUN!

Disappearing Egg
1. Fill a jar with white vinegar
2. Fill jar with vinegar leaving 1/2″ space at the top. It is important to leave room at the top of the jar or it might burst from the carbon dioxide gas produced by the reaction.
3. Loosely cover the jar with the lid and ring. Again, make sure it is not too tight so that the gas can escape the jar.
4. Let it sit for two days
Take your egg out and rinse off! Shell is gone and egg feels rubbery!

Colored Celery
Fill any number of jars with water and a few drops of your choice of food coloring.
Place celery stalks inside. Ones with leaves on the top work best.
After 2 or 3 days you will see the leaves turn the color of the food coloring.
