Teach the Teacher DAY 3

Emily, Marissa & Aubrey taught a magic trick!
Everyone then had a chance to try it on there own with a rubber band and four of their fingers. A lot of excitement came from many students mastering the trick and showing their peers. Nice work girls!

Ryan taught how to do a front flip on the trampoline. He not only walked us through the steps, but also gave very important notes on how to stay safe and make sure you practice a lot so you don't injure yourself. He even made the students write it down to remember, while also drawing the proper form while doing a flip.
Nice work Ryan!

Ben showed a video he made on the open water while fishing. He walked us through the procedure of how to cast and bate to reel in the catch. Great pointers were added, and we even had a fish in the end to see! A large mouth bass! Awesome Ben!

Mallory taught how to make a sheet cake! We went through the ingredients, then the steps to bake, and even the steps to frost and decorate. The students listened and jotted notes to take home and try themselves! In the end, we learned how to make and bake a box cake AND Mallory had a cake done to show in addition! Each student received a slice to taste...and loved it! Great work Mallory!

Teach the Teacher DAY 2

Another round of teaching comes another round of learning!

Daegan taught us a very cool way to fold fish art. He not only showed us how to draw a fish, but then fold it in a way to have the big fish eating a small fish. Kids got the hang of it, and you instantly heard fish noises, then fish noises eating other fish. Nice job Daegan!

Matthew and Finn took us to the basketball court!
Matthew taught us how to shoot a basketball! He took us through the steps of how to hold the ball. Then how to release to make the shot. He modeled how to shoot the ball from a pretty far distance. In turn he made the shot and amazed his learners! Nice job Matthew!
Finn taught everyone how to not only dribble a ball, but how to step and turn if defense is in your way. He also mentioned how to avoid traveling and a double dribble, but better yet how to get to the net! Nice job Finn!

Connor taught us how to play Checkers! He talked all about the different chips and the different colors of the board. Then he taught everyone how to make a move, what to do when you reach the other side of the board, flip to show queen, and how to jump and collect chips. Great job Connor!

Kyle was in his glory teaching all about the ins and outs of fishing! He showed us the different lures to use for different depths of water and for different fish. Then he taught us about his different reals and the different rods they attach to. Lastly, he put it all together and taught about how it connects and then how to begin the process of fishing. Nice work Kyle!

Keeping a Healthy Body

Today we had a special guest visitor! Mrs. McCain, who is a dietitian at Munson, was in to teach us more about nutrition and different ways to keep our bodies healthy. She reinforced the importance of eating healthy and to make sure we have plenty of vegetables each day in addition to our normal diet.
Not only did we have a great discussion, with questions and answers, but Mrs. McCain also demonstrated how to steam broccoli and carrots AND make it taste good at the same time. I will say the recipe she used was hit, and seconds were requested! The recipe for this came home today.
Students are excited to help with cooking the next healthy dinner :)

Library

Image result for book swap clipartThis our last week in the library! We are no longer checking out books and instead making sure we get all books back to the library. Please give your child a friendly reminder to bring back any overdue books that need to be returned. If you are missing a book or concerned about a book you can not place, please contact Mrs. Swartz. Thank you!

Book Swap

To encourage summer reading, your child has the opportunity to take home new "used" books for their interests. Book Swap is in full motion once again this year!
All students are invited to bring in gently used books, from home that they have already read. Your child may bring in as many as 10 books. In return, they will be given a credit for each book to use at the swap. Each book is worth one credit.

McNitt classroom will be swapping Tuesday, May 30th - 10:30
