Tornadoes

Last Friday we created our own severe weather storm in our classroom: TORNADOES!
There was a lot of excitement as we built our tornadoes. Of course we added a bit of color and a sprinkle of glitter to make the spin that much more amazing!

Not only did we built a tornado, but we also walked through the whole scientific process of prediction, making a hypothesis, collecting data, and drawing a conclusion. They did a great job describing the process and interpreting what they observed. We had a great discussion on Monday to wrap up our experiment!
You should have already seen both the tornado and their findings come home to further discuss with you.

If your child's tornado is leaking by now, you can unwrap the duct tape and re-glue where the two bottles came together. I used a hot glue gun to connect the bottles and then duct taped the bottles together after the glue was dry. However, the students swung the bottles around quite a few times for our experiment to see the tornado, then I am sure did a few more swings at home. This also caused a lot of stress on the glue, making it crack a little where you will see a leak.
