This weeks spelling words are similar to last week in that they are related to our unit on the War of 1812. Last week students brought home four different stories that we have been reading in the classroom that they can now enjoy at home with family and/or friends. The spelling words you will hear as your child reads through those texts. This week is the same. We have stories that will be coming home that are the stories we are reading in class from our readers. Spelling words from last week and this week will be familiar words to the students.
As we reviewed our spelling words this week, we also went over the meaning of each word. Any words students were unsure about, they were able to use their glossary. Since you do not have the readers at home, the better resource that students are becoming more familiar with is the dictionary. Ask your child what some, or all, of their spelling words mean throughout this week and weekend. You will be impressed...I was!
Spelling test will be on Monday, May 23rd
