This week the students have veered away from non-fiction, and instead are exploring folktales, fables, and other fictional stories. They are not only retelling characters, setting, and conflict/resolution, but also identifying the central message, lesson or moral of the story.
Students have been reading different folktales throughout the week and talking about the different aspects in each story and what the intended moral was. We had a couple laughs off the different make-believe elements in the story, and were able to identify how that helped to enhance our focus to teach us the authors purpose.
