Math Buddies

This week with our fifth grade math buddies we worked on MONEY. 

Two fifth graders paired up with two second grade students to work though Sam's Sweet Shop. They had different items found at the Sweet Shop they added together using money pieces. Then had to add the same items together using the paper and pencil method. Both amounts had to match, and it was a little more challenging than expected. However, it is awesome watching both age groups collaborate, discuss and support each others thinking.
