Jack and the Beanstalk

This morning the students listened to the story Jack and the Beanstalk. It aligned with our Folktale, Fables and other stories unit. After we read through the story we talk about the 5 W's (Who, What, When, Where and Why). Students also identified make believe elements that correlate with our unit and understood the central message/moral of the story.

Students then went to work remembering the important events from Jack and the Beanstalk, sequencing the text in order from beginning to end. It took us a little longer than expected. However, it was worth the time. All students worked well together, had a great discussion and gave evidence to why different pieces went where. The collaboration and communication between everyone was awesome! Students worked through many different learning goals within this one activity.
* These came home today in all students communicators.
